Rajnath Singh was born on 10 July 1951 in a Rajput family in Bhabhora, a small village in Chandauli district of Varanasi in Uttar Pradesh state. His father’s name was Ram Badan Singh and mother’s name was Gujarati Devi. Talking about Rajnath Singh’s education, he has done graduation in Physics Honours and M.A.C degree from Gorakhpur University.
Rajnath Singh started his career as a physics lecturer but since childhood he was interested in social service. When he was 13 years old, he joined the Swayamsevak Sangh. In 1972, he was made the General Secretary of Mirzapur. Along with this, he was also made the Secretary of Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad. In 1977, Rajnath Singh was selected as a Legislative Assembly member in Mirzapur.

Influenced by Jayaprakash‘s JP movement, Rajnath Singh joined the Bharatiya Janata Party. After joining the JP movement, he also went to jail for 2 years. When he returned from jail, he was re-elected as a member of the Legislative Assembly. In 1980, he joined the BJP party.
After the victory of the Bharatiya Janata Party for the first time in the state (Uttar Pradesh), he was selected as the Education Minister, after this in 1997 he became the unit president of BJP and in 2000 he was made the Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh, although his tenure did not last long, from 2014 to 2019 he took over as the Home Minister, Rajnath Singh has been working as the Defense Minister since 2019.
