Malavika Mohanan, born on August 4, 1993, in Payyanur, Kannur District, Kerala, is an Indian actress known for her work in Malayalam and Tamil cinema. She is the daughter of renowned cinematographer K. U. Mohanan and Beena Mohanan. Although born in Kerala, she was raised in Mumbai, Maharashtra.

After completing her degree in Mass Media from Wilson College, Mumbai, Malavika aspired to follow in her father’s footsteps as a cinematographer or director. However, her career path shifted towards acting when she was offered a role opposite Dulquer Salmaan in the Malayalam film “Pattam Pole” (2013), marking her acting debut.

Malavika gained critical acclaim for her Performance in the Malayalam film “Nirnayakam” (2015), earning the Special Jury Award at the Jaycey Awards. She expanded her repertoire with roles in the Kannada film “Naanu Mattu Varalakshmi” (2016) and the Hindi film “Beyond the Clouds” (2017), directed by Majid Majidi, where she portrayed Tara.

In Tamil cinema, Malavika is recognized for her roles in “Petta” (2019), alongside Rajinikanth, and “Master” (2021), where she starred opposite Vijay. Her performances have solidified her status as a versatile actress in the South Indian film industry.
